Recovery
Cold constricts, warmth returns, and the flush that follows is what surfers, fighters and yoga teachers in Bali plunge for after training.
Balance. Recover. Elevate.
Solid teak, carved by hand in Bali. Seven hundred litres held at four degrees. The cold plunge, finally built like furniture.
The name
Nalani — the stillness of the sky, the calm of the water. We took a Balinese candi bentar, the split gate you walk through to leave the ordinary world behind, and we built it into a bath.
Every Nalani is cut, joined, oiled and engraved by a single carpentry workshop in Bali. No plastic shells. No shipping container from a factory you will never see. Just teak, water, and three minutes that change the shape of your day.
The product
One model. Built properly. Everything included.
The chiller, the pump, the filter and the plumbing all disappear into a louvred teak cabinet on the right-hand side. What your guests see is a low teak chest with two broad steps, a brass-warm glow underneath, and the gate burned into the front panel.
A 702-litre insulated basin sits under a dedicated chiller that pulls the water down to −5°C and holds whatever you dial in on the digital panel. No ice runs. No guessing. Water is circulated continuously through a filter housing, with UV sterilisation available, so it stays clear between changes.
Why cold
Deliberate cold exposure is one of the most studied recovery practices in the world. Here is what people come back for.
Cold constricts, warmth returns, and the flush that follows is what surfers, fighters and yoga teachers in Bali plunge for after training.
The first breath is a reset. Most people step out sharper than three coffees would ever make them, and without the crash at noon.
Cold water gives you something impossible to think around. Staying calm inside it is a skill that follows you out of the bath.
Plunge in the late afternoon and the body drops into its evening rhythm on its own. Regular bathers notice this one first.
Controlled stress, willingly entered, then released. Breath work in the cold is the whole practice — the tub is only the room.
Sunrise, gate, water, silence. A Nalani gives the morning a shape, which is the part guests remember long after they fly home.
Cold immersion is a wellness practice, not a medical treatment. If you are pregnant or have a heart, circulatory or blood-pressure condition, speak to your doctor first. Never plunge alone, and never after alcohol.
The craft
Nalani began with one carpenter, one pile of teak and a very simple frustration: every cold plunge for sale in Bali was a plastic tub with a box of machinery bolted to the side, priced like a piece of design.
So we built the thing we wanted. Solid teak, because it is the one timber that laughs at tropical humidity and salt air. Marine plywood inside, where nobody looks but the weather still goes. Steps wide enough to sit on with a coffee. And the gate, hand-engraved 2 mm deep into the front panel, so it darkens with the wood as the years pass.
Every unit is made to order and finished in Bali. We can engrave your villa, your studio or your retreat's name beside the gate — at no extra cost, on every build.

Down to −5°C, and it holds whatever you set. From tropical tap water the first pull-down takes several hours; after that the chiller simply maintains the temperature, so it is ready every morning without ice.
It runs from an ordinary 220V household socket. The chiller only works when the water drifts above your set point, so a well-sited, well-shaded unit with the lid closed costs far less than most people expect. We will size it with you for your specific spot.
The basin is 2100 × 750 mm. One person lies out full length very comfortably; two can sit facing each other. Most villas use it as a one-at-a-time ritual.
Both. Teak is built for the tropics and the machine bay is louvred and ventilated. Outdoors we ask for 50 mm clearance at the rear, a shaded position where possible, and a covered power point.
Continuous circulation through the filter housing, optional UV sterilisation, and a simple twice-weekly routine we teach you at handover. Rinse before you get in and the water lasts a long time. Full drain via the rear outlet takes minutes.
Yes — across Indonesia, and we quote international freight on request. Bali installs are done by our own team; elsewhere we ship crated with a commissioning guide and a video call on the day.
We can. Custom lengths, twin plunges, hot-and-cold pairs and built-in installations are all things we have drawn. Send us the space and we will send you a drawing.
Made to order in the workshop. Tell us your date and we will confirm honestly whether we can meet it before you pay anything.
